Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and goals. Dr. Elias will evaluate your movement, posture, and areas of concern before recommending a personalized treatment approach. If appropriate, treatment may begin during the same visit.
Do you accept insurance?
Aligna Chiropractic is a cash-based practice and does not bill insurance directly. This allows us to focus on individualized care without treatment restrictions from insurance companies. We can provide documentation upon request that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
In many cases, chiropractic care may be eligible for payment using HSA or FSA funds. Eligibility can vary depending on your plan, so we recommend checking with your HSA/FSA provider if you are unsure.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. You can schedule directly with Aligna Chiropractic without a referral from another healthcare provider.
What chiropractic techniques do you use?
Care is customized rather than relying on one technique for every patient. Depending on your needs, treatment may include Diversified adjustments, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Thompson Drop Technique, and other gentle or targeted approaches.
What is Cox Flexion-Distraction?
Flexion-Distraction is a gentle, non-thrust chiropractic technique performed on a specialized table. The table allows controlled movement and distraction of the spine and may be used as part of care for certain types of low-back pain, disc-related symptoms, stiffness, and mobility limitations.
Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Adjustments are generally designed to be comfortable and are adapted to your condition, comfort level, and preferences. Some people may experience temporary soreness afterward, similar to what you might feel after exercise or a massage.
Do I have to get my neck adjusted?
No. Treatment is always based on your needs and comfort level. If you prefer not to receive a particular technique, tell us. Alternative treatment approaches can often be used.
How many visits will I need?
There is no one-size-fits-all treatment schedule. The number and frequency of visits depend on your condition, how long you have had it, your goals, activity level, and how you respond to care. We will discuss recommendations with you rather than automatically placing every patient on the same treatment plan.
What conditions do you commonly see?
Patients commonly visit Aligna for concerns such as low-back pain, neck pain, mid-back stiffness, muscle tension, headaches associated with neck dysfunction, sciatica-like symptoms, joint stiffness, posture-related discomfort, and mobility limitations. Chiropractic care is not appropriate for every condition, and referral for additional evaluation may be recommended when necessary.
Do you offer massage therapy as well?
Yes. Aligna offers massage therapy that can be booked on its own or used alongside chiropractic care. Sessions can be customized based on your goals, including relaxation, muscle tension relief, mobility, and recovery.
Can chiropractic care and massage therapy be done together?
Yes. For some patients, combining chiropractic care with massage or other soft-tissue therapies can be useful because the services address different aspects of movement, joint function, and muscular tension. Your treatment can be customized based on what is appropriate for you.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Athletic clothing, leggings, sweatpants, shorts, and comfortable shirts usually work well.
Will I be adjusted at every appointment?
Not necessarily. Treatment depends on what you need that day. A visit may include chiropractic adjustments, flexion-distraction, soft-tissue work, mobility recommendations, or a combination of approaches.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care is generally considered safe when performed appropriately by a licensed chiropractor, but every treatment has potential risks. Your history and symptoms are evaluated before treatment, and techniques can be modified when necessary. If your examination suggests that chiropractic treatment is not appropriate, you may be referred for further medical evaluation.
Can I schedule online?
Yes. Appointments can be booked online based on current availability. Because appointment times can fill quickly, advance scheduling is recommended when you need a specific day or time.
